Living History Farms Race 2009
The PPRC's participation in the Living History Farms (LHF) Race went off without a hitch, as usual, this year. The club brought 34 people to the race and they definitely made an impression! If you ask anyone who participated then you probably heard about the herd of "blue" people who dominated the middle of the pack! The club ran together the entire way which made it an amazing time. The back of our shirts said "Be one with the mud!" which was very appropriate.
By the time the club finished the race every member was covered, from head to toe, with mud. After crossing 7 creeks the club was able to make mud angels, mud "snow" balls, and the like. It took around 2 hours to complete a 7 mile race which sounds slow, very slow, but that wasn't the point of the race! The club took their time going through the race so they could appreciate all the course had to offer.
There were huge hay bails and huge creeks full of muddy adventures; hence the reason they took their time! No one was hurt this year, thank goodness, except for a cramped calf which was easily rubbed out. The weather was much better than last year which made for a way better experience and enabled everyone to have a wonderful experience.
If you are reading this and you haven't experienced the LHF race then you should definitely check it out next year. If you decide to run it then you will have the comfort of knowing the PPRC is there supporting you! Thank you to everyone who ran with the club. Without you the experience wouldn't have been nearly as much fun as it was. I think I speak for the entire club when I say we are looking forward to next years race!
